The story of the Kalan house

The house at Žirovnica 1 was built in 1905 and represents the architecture of a time when buildings were created with durability, character and long-term value in mind. Today, it houses the Kalan Boutique Stay apartments.

In this house, Franz Kalan opened the first shop in the Gorenjska region, which gave it an important role in the development of the place and the wider area. Today, the house no longer serves a commercial function, but remains a place to meet, stay and relax - with equal respect for people and the environment.

Architecture and respect for heritage

When renovating the house, we consciously decided to preserve the existing building. Instead of demolishing and building a new one, we chose rehabilitation and upgrading, carried out with respect for the architecture, history and environment. We believe that such an approach is more sustainable and responsible for the space in which we live.

Kalan Boutique Stay Apartments are designed simply and functionally, with comfort and a sense of homeliness in mind. Their names are associated with the surrounding mountains and natural environment, reflecting the house's connection to the space in which it stands.
